CZECH REPUBLIC
Coventina is a Czech musical group dedicated to the music of the British Isles – that is, Ireland, Scotland and England, which was formed in 2015. The band plays well-known instruments such as guitar, bass guitar and violin, but also less well-known ones such as Irish flutes, Irish bodhran or Irish bouzouki.
In 2016, Coventina recorded its first CD, entitled The Irish Dew. Two years later, in 2018, the band recorded its second CD – The Irish Shamrock. According to the band, 2019 will be a year full of changes and, they hope, full of new opportunities. The first change that Coventina made was to invite a new band member to help them revive their music with an instrument that is inherently part of this style of music, which is the violin. The band also plans to record their third CD this year.
The band plays as follows:
- Iveta Krpálková – vocals, guitar, Irish bouzouki, Irish bodhran
- David Krpálek – vocals, bass guitar, rhythm
- Markéta Zdražilová – vocals, violin
- Lucie Voráčová – Irish flutes
In the four years of its existence, Coventina has already managed to attend countless festivals and events such as the Mountain Games in the Orlické Mountains or in Úvaly, KovárnaFest, the Celtic Night in Týnec, or the Celtic holiday Samhain. They will play at the Celtic Night Plumlov festival for the first time and you can hear them on Thursday, July 16, 2026.
